Adventures with Family and Space Marines

Hello! And welcome to the joy of painting badly. Now, it may seem odd that I'm starting with a post that involves no painting whatsoever, but there's an order to this nonsense. Sort of, in a way.

This is a hobby blog, one that I've started mainly to encourage myself, but also as a way to share what I most enjoy about this sort of thing: having fun with family and friends. And that's the purpose of this first post. About a week ago I got the chance to play a game of Space Marine Adventures with my parents and my fiancee, and it was a good time for all. And having fun together is worthwhile, especially since we're all still deep in the pandemic. (Don't worry too much, we're all part of the same bubble)

This isn't going to be a review, just a quick and silly account of a quick and silly game. So here we go!

It began with our four adventurous marines taking a stroll in a labyrinth of necrons, as you do. They soon found themselves in a scrap with the robotic inhabitants, who did not appreciate tourists.

Things turned ferocious quite quickly, with Brother Frostclaw (ably played by my fiancee) tearing through a bunch of reinforcements.

While the rest of the marines got to work keeping the labyrinth fairly clear, Brother Infernus (less ably played by me) got to work on activating the exit. This took several attempts. Burning things was more his forte, apparently.

But eventually, triumph! The panel turned and the exit was revealed, and just in time too, as most of the marines had now been wounded. Luckily being wounded just made brother Frostclaw angrier and faster, and he hacked and ran his way to the exit.

The path now clear, his brothers followed, promising themselves a vacation somewhere nicer and less evil sentient robot infested next time.

It's a fun and simple little game, and one that I can't wait to play with my nephews once covid is over.

That's that! The next post will be a bit more hobby related.
