Shieldmaiden Update

Just a brief one here, but I got them all painted!

Four archers, four slings, four axes, and a leader, and just plain fun to paint.

I did try some new paint things for them, so I'm counting this as that space for bingo. Hey, my bingo, my rules.

Next? Who knows!

A Few More Shieldmaidens To Paint

A new little project has arrived!

Four slingers, four axe wielders, Freyja, and a bonus little zombie guy. Should be fun to paint!

That's all for now. I've had covid, so even typing is a bit tiring.

Archers!

The other day I posted about getting some shieldmaidens from Bad Squiddo games, and then I remembered that I had a few! Specifically, four archers. So I have painted them, though I still want to do a little more.

Quite fun to paint and with a lot of personality. For a while there I wasn't really into painting metal but these past few months have brought me back around.

More Hordes! Of Horror, That Is

I've been busy, busy, busy with work and with community theater, but I've managed to paint more of the Bad Squiddo Horror minis! Again! Quite a few more, I think that I'm only missing the ghouls at this point. Still trying my best to figure out how I want to paint those ones.

These minis are such a blast to paint. I've decided to pick up some of the shieldmaidens, too.

Remember the days of livejournal, when you'd just share the song you were listening to for no reason, because why would anyone need to know that? Well, no one needs to know anything I post here, so I'm going to tell you that I'm listening to Basia Bulat's Tall Tall Shadow. Such a good song.

The Horror Continues (With Guinea Pigs)

Yes, guinea pigs! Vampire ones, to be specific.

The first one I tried to paint a little to look like Bunnicula, of course. Impossible to resist. Also trying out something different with some of the basing, using that old standby of aquarium sand.

I like these little guys. My sisters and I had a few pet guinea pigs growing up, we learned a few valuable lessons from them, namely that a two boy guinea pigs might actually turn out to be a boy and a girl guinea pig. The babies were quite a surprise.

I've got a bunch more of the Bad Squiddo horror minis painted, or nearly done, and I've made considerable progress with the orc horde. More on both soon.

The Horror!

I've done a bit more painting of the Bad Squiddo horror minis! There's three nightrobe wearing women, looking like they're wandering around a blustery, haunted manor, and the Bride of Frankenstein. They were quite relaxing to paint.

The colors of the robes probably aren't period accurate, but I'm not concerned about that. Note the floor brickwork, done in sharpie. I am lazy and I almost never think about bases, but I'm content with these ones.

Of course, the next challenge will be finding the right game to use them in. Silver Bayonet, maybe?

More Random Fantasy Minis

This one's from Bad Squiddo Game's recent horror kickstarter, which came with some really fun figures. I forget the name of this one, but I like how solidly posed and armed she is.

Just a lot of fun to paint overall!

Farmer Maggot Probably Loves Bingo

Keeping on with the bingo trend, here's farmer Maggot!

He showed up in the mail the other day, and I got him painted fairly quickly, quick enough, in fact, to it fit the bingo square for painting a model within 48 hours of receiving it!

Here's the card, since I forgot it last time.

I always liked the Shortcut to Mushrooms chapter in Lord of the Rings. I read the books as a kid, and for some reason I actually liked the slower, more domestic chapters at the beginning. I read and reread Bilbo's party, and the parts where the hobbits are traveling together, before the Barrow Downs. That's still kind of my thing when it comes to reading, I like stories that are small and quiet. Odd for someone basically doing a wargaming blog, I suppose.

Bingo Post 2

Sorry that I can't come up with a more original title than that, but I'm a bit sick right now. Ah well.

At any rate! (I say that a lot, don't I?) I have checked off one more bingo square, the "start a new army" one.

Who are the new guys, you might ask? And also why?

Well, the why is because I'd been planning to get some of these guys for a while now, so I just up and did it. And the who is Numenor!

We've got 8 warriors with swords and shields, 6 with bows, and three with spears. Obviously they aren't a full army yet, lacking leaders and such, but heck, the box says "start", not "finish."

A Little Break for a Bird

Sometimes you need a little break, you know?

I really like this little figure, I'm not sure what he is but he was a lot of fun to paint. Who wouldn't need a bird man, just in case?
